A Poem: My Father

I just spoke with my dad.

He has such an intelligent mind

he knows of the love one can find

he is able to see things before rather than behind.

He chooses to do his own thing

never being forced into a ring.

He has a heart of gold

that will never be bought nor sold.

He has a strong moral base

he takes life case by case.

His charm will woo anyone

yet is big enough to roll up his sleeves to things done.

He shines as bright as the noonday’s sun

and will never shy away from fun.

He says he’s proud and has faith in me

to take the opportunities that I can see.

He knows I’ll choose my own path

creating my own special habitat.

He is able to see beyond those around

yet he stays in our hometown

out in the country is where he can always be found.

He told me I’m not lucky, that it’s been determination

that has fueled my ambition.

He said I’ve created everything good

by being the very best that I could.

He says I’m the one who has created my success

by believing in my growth and doing my best.

God I love my father.

He is unlike any other.

A great man indeed

and always there when I need.

I am grateful to be his daughter

and that he’s my friend and my father.

A Poem: Not Good At Being Alone

I’m never good at being alone

I’m soft and pink and not made of stone

I’m very blessed that love is who I am

I’ll show it in my ways – I’ll even hold your hand

I’m not really looking for any major commitment

but I do like to create my own little playland

with the one I choose to be my special man.

I’ll be real good until I’m done

we’ll laugh and kiss, it’ll be super fun

I’ll make you feel like you’re the only one

we’ll be drunk in love like we’ve been sippin’ rum

we’ll share the sheets, we’ll pillow talk some

we’ll sweat hot and heavy and surely we’ll come

I’ll be open and honest – I’ll hold nothing back

I’ll share everything I carry around in my backpack

my admiration, my inspiration, my open embraces

the energy we create will be seen on our faces.

you’ll be my everything, but you must beware

I’ll try my best to handle you with care.

I’m not good at intimate relationships

but I’ll roll the dice and raise the chips.

They say its better to have loved and lost

than to never have loved at all

Please remember this during the inevitable fall.

I’ll still think highly of you as I’m leaving the room

and chances are I’ll continue until I’m in my tomb.

So lets just share our time together while we can

enjoy the moments while we both still stand.

I’d like to think you’ll be better off having experienced this bliss

maybe that’s bold, but it all starts with one sweet kiss

an opportunity that is so hard to resist.

I’ll bask in your affection – You’ll get an erection

we’ll travel down an uncharted path without any direction.

A Poem: Thank you for the Safe Place

I meant it when I said

I must’ve done something right

because I’m here with you tonight.

I must’ve been meant to be here

exploring and being free of fear

to be myself in my true form

without any pressure to conform

you took me in like I was one of you

you loved me, hugged me and fed me too.

You gave me a safe place

and you took me into space

with thoughts and ideas

using wit and taste.

I could say what I felt

as radical and unconventional as I can be

but you know what I was talkin’ ’bout and let me be free

no arguing, no fighting – even no compromising.

I haven’t felt like this in so long its inspiring.

The laughter was healing

and I’m left with this feeling

that I’m really not alone

and I’m getting back into the zone.

it’s great to be around people like you

you’re one in a million

of the brave souls that are true.

Thank you for everything

I mean that in the truest sense

I know I can count on you

my new like-minded friends.

A Poem: A Big Exhale

Ahh… a big exhale

as I scribe on my page

backwards and left

releasing the rage.

The gates are open

in fact – they’re broken

its all coming out

with fury while soakin’

and drenching my soul

with love and honesty

as brutal as its been

its just about to begin

the healing I need

to be whole once again.

Ahh… a big exhale

as I write my own page

for my own story

outside of the cage.

It feels great to be

on my way to be me

funky and true

and finally free.

A Poem: Just Friends – My Anthem

I really like your smile

I really like your way

I’ll give you my attention

but I still have to say…

I just want to be friends

to learn and grow together

I just want to be friends

for now and probably forever.

I may push the limits during the day

I may expose too much, but i think its okay

I get real comfortable right off the bat

but it doesn’t mean I want to hit the sack.

I dig your energy

it seems to fuel mine

I’ll give you a touch

but I promise you there’ll be no such…

Well I sure like our time

thank you for sharing it with mine

please see beyond this rhyme

and lets keep being kind

to one another as we walk down the line.

I’d like to keep building

on the blocks we’ve started from

its up to us-

look how far we’ve come.

I just want to be friends

to learn and grow together

I just want to be friends

for now and probably forever.

A Poem: Can I Lay Here?

Do you mind if I lay here?

here in my bed

its a comfortable place

to be in my head.

I promise you can stay a while

we don’t have to talk

just give me a smile.

An unspoken language

that we’ll create on our own

it’ll be fit for me and you

uniquely fashioned in our tone.

We’ll revel in our delights

never worry – we won’t fight

just promise me

we’ll keep on the light.

I’m afraid of the dark

I’m afraid that it’s true

I’ve always been

it makes me blue.

So hang out here next to me

we’ll sprout our roots

just like a tree.

Hold my hand and come in close

I’ve got nothing to hide nor to boast.

We’ll sit in silence – you and me

painting our world that’s totally free.

A Poem: Walking Blind

come real fast

surely make haste

you must know

there’s time to waste

form a circle

draw a line

its up to you

what you’ll find

the time is now

it always is

must figure out

all of this

walking blind

following my bliss

I have comfort though

that it’s all about this

moving forward

while being right here

never being

ruled by fear

being my best

like only I can

please remember

i still need a hand

A Poem: Truth Down There

I’ve got some questions

I must ask

i hope you will

remove your mask,

dig way down

to the barrel of your soul

dig way down

that’s where I need to go.

The truth is down there

hidden within

the pile of junk

we’ve accumulated along

the years every day

as soon as we start

to dust things off

to clean things up

we’ll fill our cup

the love will flow

like I know it can

out of our hearts

and into our hand.

I use our instead of I

its all about us and

 a big ‘ol we

we’re never alone

I hope you can see

together we can do

find, play and explore.

We just have to dare

and start to bare

 our souls and hearts

with honesty and care.

A Poem: And The She Woke

one day she woke

she couldn’t breathe

she felt so sick

and was touched by the breeze.

The breeze turned to wind

as it swallowed her sin

she was standing still

while starting to spin.

The spin turned her ’round

shook her upside down –

a little sideways

until she found…

She had been so lost

so off track

all she could think of

was heading back.

She’ll never be the same

it’s been a blessing in disguise

she had to fall down

before she could rise.

Now she’s found home

and flipped on the light

better than ever

and not having to fight.

She agreed with herself

to get up and go

from the valleys to the mountains

for reasons only she knows.

Beauty’s got the best of her

Her eyes are bright

her love is right

but she still doesn’t know

beauty’s got the best of her

youth is on her side

but secretly she wishes

that she can run and hide

its time for her to be set free

to fly around like a honeybee

shes always sweet in her way

but nows the time for her to say…

oh set me free!

so I can learn what I need

so I can see who I am

’cause I just want to be me

beauty’s got the best of her

youth is in her eye

a heart bursting full of love

all she needs is time

oh set me free!

so I can learn what I need

so I can see who I am

’cause I just want to be me
